I like to talk. I love the little moments. I am obsessed with children. That pretty much sums up how I came to pursue photography. Let me explain. When my first daughter was born I realized how every little movement or expression she made was so cool, so innocent, so beautiful. I wanted to document that first year and each unique thing she did, so I was rarely without a camera. Not unlike any new mother, right? Well…before I knew it, every time I saw a child in a store, at the park, or heck, just throwing a tantrum, I started to visualize how I could best capture their own personalities and their life as it was at that very moment in a picture.
I began to study this art a little more closely, and with a little more urgency. I wanted to know more about how a great photograph was made so I invested myself — I read, observed others that I admired and practiced. Obviously children and babies were my first subject of choice, but I knew versatility was the key to comprehension.
After an invitation from Doug to shoot a wedding with him, I knew that was a completely different yet equally fulfilling event to be a part of. So now we come full circle to my original reasons for pursuing this great adventure. I still like to talk, and it seems put brides and grooms at ease. I still love those little moments, and we know those are plentiful on such a special day. And yes, I am still obsessed with children but as it turns out there are some of those at weddings too!
Don’t worry brides…I still know that day is all about YOU!
